The best part of getting old

My grandparents are getting really old and sometimes going out to dinner with them can be a real experience. The last time my husband and I went out to dinner with my grandparents, was to say the least a real experience. First we were seated next to the window and grandma was getting too cold, which meant we had to move away from the windows and into the bar area. Moving my grandmother was a whole experience in and of itself. Well, after a few drinks, my grandfather starts telling us about how getting older stinks and how they can't have sex anymore, but of course he wants to, so he went to the doctor and got a prescription so he could buy Viagra or did he buy Cialis , he wasn't really sure but in any case he got the stuff from an online pharmacy and then he gave it a try, but still nothing. He said he was going back to the doctor to see if he had something stronger. I kept thinking to myself, this is a little bit too much information, and that drugs like Viagra and Cialis were really for people who were experiencing erectile dysfunction , not for people who were too old to really have sex like him and grandma, and I do mean really too old. Well, next this singer who was less than wonderful starts singing and a band starts playing and well, that was it for the conversation, which I was truly grateful for, because my grandfather is hard of hearing and he can't have a conversation over the band and the singing. I was really glad until my grandparents started singing and banging on the table and clapping to the rhythm, and then it all got to be a bit much all over again. They kept saying how great the singer was and how great the band was and all that stuff. Then my grandparents made a request, while my grandfather insisted on tipping the singer for the great job she was doing. She was honestly a really bad singer, but I guess that is the great thing about being old. Eventually when you get old enough you don't know good singing from bad and you don't care what anyone thinks of you and I think that is probably the best part of getting old.
